Iranians go to the polls to select the successor of Ibrahim Reisi, who died in a helicopter crash on May 19th.
Voting started this morning at 8:00 am and will finish at 6:00 pm, according to officials.
The Ministry of Interior Affairs of Iran says that voting will be held in nearly 59,000 branches inside and in 344 branches outside the country.
Media reports indicate that at least 64 million people in Iran are eligible to vote in this year’s presidential election, the majority of whom are young people.
At the same time, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, has urged people to vote in large numbers across the country.
Today, Iranians will choose their next president from among the candidates: Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Saeed Jalili, Masoud Pezeshkian, and Mostafa Pourmohammadi.
