Iran will have presidential election runoff as no candidate was able to secure a majority of 50 percent in the yesterday’s election. 

The runoff will be held between Saeed Jalili and Masoud Pezeshkian on July 5th.

According to Iranian law, a candidate must receive more than 50% of the votes to win the election outright.

According to the records, voter participation was low in this election, with only 40 percent of eligible voters casting their ballots. 

Mohsen Eslami, an election spokesman, announced the results of yesterday’s election, stating that out of 24.5 million votes cast, Pezeshkian received 10.4 million votes while Jalili garnered 9.4 million.
